Galatians 1:6-9. “There is no other gospel”.
Last week was the introduction to the letter but also a foundation, for what is coming next, Paul know that the Galatians that they know the gospel of Jesus Christ, that he died for sins, God rose him again, and it was all in God’s plan. God made the good news. And Paul and his team shared that and they believed that is why Paul knows. PPT about prayer and greeting. – Rebuke, not prayer and thanksgiving
Why are you deserting God? And the good news?
Verse 6 This week Paul starts by saying how chocked he is that the Galatians, had so quickly deserted from that good news, God, that had called them by grace in Christ. They now were changing over their allegiants, turning away not from a theological them, but from God, the creator of the world that by grace had revealed Jesus Christ to them. Then it is not just a matter of theology it is a serious matter of rejecting God as a person, not a concept or vague thing, it is breaking a relationship… And turn and trust someone ells that is not God, and that is not by grace showing Jesus as Christ Lord and God, that has done all the work.
A pause, when we reject the gospel or don’t live it out, we break relationship with God, by trusting something ells that his gospel in Jesus Christ. Not, just in words, and thinking and terms and theology, gymnastic, no we reject a person. And shift our allegiance to someone ells. (I mean most of us, would not say we do that, but is that not what sin is, to fail in our relationship with God and try to find another way to do life, a philosophy, hakunamatta, capediem, what someone said, in a song, a video, a program, but it led us away from God, just do it, you are worth it, it might make some sense but it leads us away form God).
That is why Paul is so upset, they are in their actions rejecting what God has done in Jesus Christ, they are rejecting the God that opened their eyes to see Jesus.
Forgetting that God sent Paul and his team and by them God revealed himself, and opened their eyes to see Jesus as Christ, and the plan God to showed us his love for us, that by faith in him we can be saved. Not by works, or religious deeds. (The gospel as a person a relationship not just an idea) Paul writes this is deserted not and idea but a person, the one that called them to himself God by grace in Jesus Christ, they are deserting and turning away from grace and the Lord Jesus Christ the messiah, to another gospel some other good news?
You might wonder what that is,Paul is clear there is no other gospel:but Paul jumps right in and say there is on other gospel, no other (euangelion) good news. Therefore, all other “good news”, gospels are not good news, no matter what they say. (They are all false and can’t deliver what the promise, they take life, and does not give life aboundly in Jesus Christ) They lead people away for Jesus Christ, away form relationship with God, or distort who God is by changing his word.
How today and then: Overemphasizing, making sweeping statements, that don’t hold up to all the bible, or as one Pastor said some years ago Jesus plus anything, runes everything. The true God news is Jesus. Not Jesus +.og minus. That is false/disorder gospel that leads us away from Jesus our savior, revealed by God.
Paul say that plenty of people will want to distort the gospel of Jesus Christ. That sounds strange why, what would be the motivation of people to lead others astray?
(For their pride, money sex, popularity, to show they are good, prof, the work of the devil,) They will trouble people and distorted the good news.
Cults and false religions: It might not be all wrong, but it is distorted leading a way form Jesus as the euangelion – the good news.
(The harder false teachings – God blessed his word, so some till experience blessing even if the hole system is wrong or disorder, leading people away from Jesus to trust in Joseph Smith, Muhammed, a religious sect, or “church”, where the leader viewed as God, - drawing people away from Jesus.)
What does Paul think about people like that? They should be accursed, devoted to destruction, dammed, cursed, condemned. This is very strong language.
Verse 8 and 9 is a key verse; Then what. Reject the false Gospels. The people should be accursed.
Even writes if we or an angle from heaven should preach another gospel, let them be accursed.
Not only once but dobbels it… they should be accursed. Any one that leads people away from Jesus Christ, as lord, God and savior, the good news… should be accursed.
Today most people would say to Paul, okay came down, you should not be so judgmental, I mean yes those people are leading people astray away from God, but that is okay, that is what they believe, we cant judge others, they should do what they want… Oh this is such a prevalent false gospel today. (Lately I have seen it a lot in sports, I follow Golf, and this is something that has been said a lot lately, well how am I do judge what disition someone makes for his family, if they say that is the best for them, they can do that, this is about taking money from a suspicious sores. In public school (Lily) heard the same in school 2 weeks ago, just do what you feel like! But that sounds crazy, yes but some might like that, what? If you have no, moral basis, if you don’t have a God that have shown you Jesus Christ = as the good news you will have no moral foundation to say what is right and what is wrong). Therefore, people can do whatever they feel like. To their own destruction and disgust of others.
But that can’t be a gospel! That is why we have wars and horrible things happening, stealing, frud, abuce, because people do what they feel like, and therefore are led away from Jesus, do Satans work, and destruction follows that view. I saw a video yesterday, if you could ask God a question, what would it be, to people said why are there wars? The answer is because of the false gospel of do what you feel like. One other person said I think God is doing a good job… The pride of man is so strong, that we as humas a proud enough to accuse God of doing a bad job, while we sin and against the people he has made in his image, and showed us in Jesus Chrit the way of salvation. But most say no thanks, to the good news in Jesus, on I will make my own morals and my own gospel, wonder why the world is broken. That is why Paul is not calm, he knows if people reject Jesus (the good news), they will reject God be lost, and suffer the concevencse, moral decay, sin will hurt them and others. They will lose the only true way, Jesus Christ, the way, truth and the life. (They will live as dead people).
Practically also: Testing peoples clams and spirts.
When people clam that they heard or got a revelation, of new knowledge a new gospel, it does not matter where it comes from, even if Paul himself or his team would come and preach a new gospel, or an angle from heaven, let them be coursed, dammed, devoted to destruction. This is hard words of condemnation that fits the crime, to take away Gods good news and an replace it with a manmade rules/system. = For gain and populaty of the one that changes it. Failure to understand the gospel of Grace.
What does this mean, we can reject all people that say they have a new understanding that is not the same as the original good news that Jesus Christ is the good news, that God has provided, planed, Jesus also and obeyed, life, death, resurrection, coming back eternal life and it is by Gods Holy Spirt that makes people see.
(Then why?) Angle= demons – OT testing his people by false prophets. Do we trust God more that people?
Mormonism, - revelation from and angle, added many things, that is not based on the gospel. (Always be aware money, power, woman, men, special revelation and spiritual power).
Islam: adding things to the gospel, using the same person gallery. Has no gospel, work for is.
Jehovas vitneness, that make their own tranlastion of the bible to fit there theology.
Jewdisem that reject Jesus.
Budisem, Hinduisem 330 million Gods… Reincanation, strong works rightiusness,
Gnosticism, it is a mystery only the enlighten will know, special meaning in lights not Jesus Christ,
How many false gospels do you know? How many do you see in one day?
Materialism = life will be paradice when you have this and that…
Humanism = Humans is the end goal
Selfasteem movement = just feel good about yourself = Pride.
Follow you heat religion = do what you feel is right = make up you own God,
I am God =
What is heaven and what is hell = when people present you a gospel? What do they get out of it?
What is the gospel?
There is no other gospel!!!
That gives hope to all, that God provides, the gospel in Jesus Christ his son, the holy spirt lets people see, Jesus life, death, resurrection, true life in Christ, - life with God forever, not by my works, but by God, Jesus Christ, we can not be proud, we can worship Jesus to the glory of God the father, by the Holy Spirt, the only true Good news is found in Jesus Christ, trust in Him.
